It’s official… at McDonald’s Europe we are organising our first hackathon! And it’s taking place in London at the Rainmaking Loft, November 21-23 2014.

McDonald’s is already a market leader when it comes to digital innovation. Technology has made the famous brand evolve in terms of offers and customer relationships. 7 years ago, we were already offering WiFi in our restaurants. Today, everything revolves around improving the customer experience, particularly through the introduction of kiosks in-store, table service and mobile ordering.

Despite the size of the company, we go for a start-up mind-set: innovate, try, test and move fast and we’ve decided to launch our first hackathon and let hackers, makers, developers, designers, or just real customers imagine what they’d like to see in future McDonald’s restaurants.

So here is the challenge:

  • 48 hours to enhance the digital restaurant experience
  • From in-store animations using retail technologies (m-payment, NFC, beacons…) to social good innovations, all ideas related to improving one or several steps in the customer experience are welcome!
  • We know how digital can affect a business and we want people to have their say in the way it will affect them.
  • So come and take part in this new McDonald’s experience! Work in a team and build an innovative concept. You can win prizes, and maybe even partner with McDonald’s and have your project tested on the ground!
